Director’s NOTE:
I believe in the multidisciplinary artist. I personally think that a true theater artist is the one who can take more than one role, the one who doesn’t limit the possibilities to only one discipline but embraces them all, the one that not only can act, but write, design and direct … the one that can create. This project is aiming to find those multidisciplinary artists and discover the ones who don’t know they are. Every creator begins out of “chaos”. If we’re going to create “something” is because that “something” does not yet exist. And if “something” doesn’t exist yet is because there’s still “nothing”. So the “chaos” that involves creating out of “nothing” is not really “chaos” but it’s the natural circumstances before creating “something” and we should treat it as such. Instead of fearing “chaos”, we could learn to live in it and learn from it.
In this occasion, I don’t think there’s a better way to face this “chaos” but in collaboration. Two artists think better than one and seven can create many “something-S” out of the same “nothing” … and then add seven more artists, and then seven more. Collaboration, well understood, can be a very fulfilling experience. This project is also aiming for that collaboration and exchange, the exchange between multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary artists from two different places across the world (Asunción – New York) inspired in the same starting point …. And in this way, face our “chaos”.
